Children's drawings have been the subject of serious study by an impressive array of educators, psychologists, art therapists and artists. There is a consensus that expression through art is a unique personal statement that contains conscious and unconscious meanings that can represent different aspects of a child.
Researches found that body image is the constantly changing mental picture of one's body. The examination of children's drawings provides an insight into cognitive and psychosocial functioning, which are important aspects in their development of self-concept. |

Paintik's reviews are for educational and entertainment purposes only. We do not compete with off-line services in any way. Off-line services are normally granted drawing assessments which are an initial and integral part of a costly long treatment, and performed by child psychologists, art therapists, children health practitioners, and other child professionals as means of analyzing the points to be treated.
Paintik does not provide any treatment, nor comes to replace any of these practices. Paintik is intended for the general public, and at a convenient price. It can be regarded as an enriching service, an educational service, a lifestyle service, or for some even as entertainment – but certainly NOT a treatment OR diagnostics of any sort, or any part thereof.

The reviewing process includes many aspects: the way the child draws his/her painting, the objects he/she painted and their combinations, the choices he/she made, his/her attention to details, the utilization of the paper area, the lines he/she draws (quality, strength, thickness of the lines), the colors selected, the level of planning before he/she painted etc. We also examine specific objects such as human images, trees, houses that appear in all paintings. It is also important to indicate the child's drawing stage and compare it to the child's age and accepted development curve. For example, if a 6 year-old draws only scribbles without any objects (images), this may indicate a regression of development. The entire examination process is based on academic research and best practice methodologies.
We never review one drawing alone, because many signs may be coincidental. Every insight we found is based on several signs (graphic symbol) that appear in many of the child's drawings. And one last note, interpretation of children's paintings is not an exact science and can be subjective to the individual conducting the interpretation. Different interpreters may view the paintings in a different light. |

- Upload many drawings and paintings from the last few months (more paintings will improve the interpretation).
- Make sure you scan/photograph the entire page, not only the drawn image. It is important to view the location of images and the spreading of the drawing.
- Ask your child to draw his family. When he completes the painting ask him/her which image represents each family member (Mom, Dad, the child, older brother, young sister etc.) and write it down near the images.
- Ask your child to draw a tree, house and bridge (possible in the same painting or separately). Make sure that the child feels relaxed and cooperative, don’t force him/her to draw and don’t give detailed instructions.
- Tell us a bit about your child and your family so that we can relate the drawings signs in the relevant context.
